Sheringham Carnival
1st - 8th August 2010

After a very successful 2009 Carnival we are now planning the 2010 Sheringham Carnival and we would like to make it even better than 2009, which was our most successful Carnival yet.

We would like to appeal for more volunteers to make this happen with an input of new idea's and comments.

We have re-organised the layout of Carnival Week this year after consultation with many local people, in an attempt to make it easier for people to take part in the major events.

Carnival Opening Day is on The Leas on Sunday 1st August and will be jam packed with events for all to enjoy beginning with the Carnival Bikini Dip, yes men too in bikinis!  Also we have the Crowning of Carnival Queen, Children's Games, Scratby Donkeys, Anti-Static our Nelson Statue, stalls and lots of food.

Carnival Day is in and around town all day on Wednesday 4th August and the main streets will be thronging with Street Entertainers, Stalls, Music and last years favourite Anti-Static our Nelson Statue who this year appears as Charlie Chaplin. The great Battle of the Bands, and a Talent Show to find our local entertainers.  The Children's Fancy Dress will still take place today and hopefully we will have a float for the winners to ride on in the Carnival Parade which will be on Saturday 7th August.  The Children will then parade through town to the main car park where we will be holding the TOWN RACES.

Thursday we have the Carnival Fancy Dress at Sheringham Social Club

Carnival Saturday 7th August is now being held on the Sports Ground and on Cookies Field, Beeston Regis.   We have a fantastic array of entertainment to offer you including Strongman Competition, Ancient Longbow Armouries, Five a side football, Alternative Carnival Queen, Junk Fashion Making, Carnival Challenges, Majorettes and Trix 'n' Stix.

The parade will leave Sheringham Town from The Common. New route:  Start from The Common, along Cromer Road, Turn Right down Beeston Road, up Wyndham Street, High Street, Turn left at the Town Clock.  Up Station Road to roundabout, turn left along Cromer Road to Cookies Car Boot Field, Beeston Regis.

There will then be further entertainment until the Fireworks Display.

We round off with live music in the beer tent, from the legendary Buster James Band and "All Night Long" disco from Proud Night-club, Camden Town, it is going to ROCK!

Sunday we have our Classic Car and Bike Festival amongst other events

We do need volunteers to help us run the Carnival.  No matter what your age, you can help us to help local charities.

Run a charity game stall for us - we have the equipment, we just need the people to run them.

Sheringham Carnival has been running for several years and each year is getting bigger and better.   It is a fun time for all of the family, from the babes in arms to Grandmothers and Grandfathers, with something to interest everybody.

We have lots of new and exciting events on offer this year, so book your time off and come and join in the fun.

Donations

It costs a great deal of money to put Sheringham Carnival on each year and we are heavily reliant, and very grateful to, the businesses and individuals in Sheringham that support us through either booking advertisements in our programme, advertising their accommodation on this site, sponsoring events or donating prizes.  Money raised by Carnival is for local charties, many of whom rely on our donation.

Pitch Booking

If you would like to book either a Charity or Trade Pitch, please contact us for details.  Please be aware that no-one will be allowed to set up pitches during Carnival Week unless we are in receipt of a booking form and any relevant fees we may charge.

Google Maps showing Event Locations

This site is here to give you information about past Carnivals, the programme of events for this year's Carnival and details on how you can be involved with the current Carnival.

The Carnival is organised and run entirely by volunteers, but more are always needed.  All skills are needed from financial expertise to making the tea for the works parties, putting up bunting requires a certain amount of skill up a ladder, but someone has to untangle it and pass it up!  If we work together as a community we can make this year's Carnival even better than before and subsequently raise even more cash for local charities.

You do not have to be a resident of Sheringham to offer your help.  We have many people who live all over the country that visit our Carnival every year, if you are one of them, you too can get involved.   During Carnival week we are always looking for help at the many events we provide, whether it be impartial judges or just help in supervising youngsters.  If you want to be more involved, please do contact us.

You can also take part in the events, put together a walking entry into the parade or doll up your motor and enter a motorised one.   Buy a Duck from Carnival HQ and enter The Duck Race, practise a skill and enter the Talent Show or get your costume together for the big Parade.

We love Carnival in Sheringham and as far as we are concerned, the more people who join in the better, so please  do join us.

The more money we raise, the more we can give to local Charities.
